Gerrard butler is fantastic in it and the costumes and staging in this are sumptous.

Watch Phantom of the Opera now on your favorite device! The end left me a sobbing mess. Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote. It was amazing! Gerard Butler is a tad more swashbuckling---and his makeup less repulsive--- than his stage counterparts, so we have to buy more into Christine's rejection of him. The phantom is still dark, but the story gets more complicated and Mr.T gets a few tiny junks of virtue and redemption. When the movie came out in theaters I had to go and see it in person. The special anniversary content at the end takes the experience to another level of greatness! First of all, I've seen the play twice and have watched the DVD many times -- definitely love it! Produced and co-written by Lloyd Webber and directed by Joel Schumacher, it stars Gerard Butler in the title role, Emmy Rossum, Patrick Wilson, Miranda Richardson, Minnie Driver, and Jennifer Ellison. I haven't been disappointed at all. In fact, if it weren't that my house and home theater are rather upset due to some current renovations, I would be watching/listening yet again right now. I was pleasantly surprised how true to the script of the show the film is. Helpful. AMAZING screen adaptation and the entire intro and the boat scene (and walking down the underground hall) is like watching the most amazing gothic romance metal music video you've ever seen. Having recently seen the stage show and totally loving every minute of it I watched this for the first time very soon after. One person found this helpful. The Phantom of the Opera (1925) 2. The cast was top notch and it was wonderful to see at the end of the performance Sir Andrew Loyd-Webber, the original cast with Sarah Brightman and my very favorite Phantom, Michael Crawford which I got to see perform in POTO in Los Angeles many years ago. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It had such great music in it and I loved the Overture especially! Directed by Joel Schumacher. Check this out for yourself, the music alone is worth your time. A must-watch for true fans of the Phantom. I have been a fan of Phantom of the Opera since I read the book back in middle school. This is a wonderful production featuring some of the greatest of recent cast members. Lovely production, nicely done with flashbacks, and the end scene in the graveyard is particularly poignant. I will never get tired of seeing this musical, there are so many beautiful moments and songs in it. Forget about every other version of POTO that’s out there. Surely there are changes to fit the venue and filming but it is close to the original production, unlike the current US tour (although latter is still worth seeing). I had never seen this movie before, and have fallen in love with it! Definitely worth checking out. Rossum is awesome vocally and acting is pretty good - she gets a little dazed and dreamy eyed too often, but that happens when you are under a spell of sorts, maybe cut some slack here.. I first saw this film at school when we had to do a Music Evaluatiuon on it. Good acting, special, effects, well put together movie. ... Do not confuse this Phantom with the Gerard Butler movie. Lovely production, pity the Phantom is very weak vocally.
