The story is the true story of a woman whose childhood was so awful that she had to escape into other personalities. The disorder was presented quite realistically, only if it was for too many identities to reveal. But the subject is extremely interesting and that is what makes the film watchable throughout. Soon afterwards, Richard moves away, crushing both Sybil and Vanessa. We slowly learn why Sybil is the way she is as she does. Though it was fairly long (a little over 3 hours), I didn't find myself bored or wanting it to end at any point. I would like to see a new movie made on Sybil's life. Woodward herself had starred in The Three Faces of Eve, in which she portrayed a woman with three personalities, winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for the role. Apparently I was attracted towards the movie for it being based on a real life event, only to realize later that it actually may not have been.
