It starts with a lot of knockabout stuff, but then the likeable Yuen Biao decides to run away with the circus - I mean Chinese opera troupe so he can take wing chun lessons.

I actually liked this part of the film, it had" warmth" esp. This movie is even better with the original Chinese dialogue, the English dub loses a lot and makes the movie more cornball then it should be at times. Starting over isn't easy, especially for John Nolan who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of joining the LAPD. excellent one of the best martial art films of all time Chang takes Yee-tai back to Foshan to see a doctor.

The story is much better than many movies of this type, it's also generally much less corny/cheesy than many of these kind of films. Yee-tai refuses because he thinks Chang would probably misuse it, but Chang has his father buy the Lok Fung Lin troupe and gives himself a job as Yee-tai's personal assistant, insisting on following Yee-tai everywhere until Yee-tai agrees to teach him Wing Chun. It is a good film and does get the message across about the Prodigal Son, however it did concentrate a little too much on the him spending all the money.
DVD. Watch this video about the real dangers facing young ones today. I perused the new show line-up and saw nothing I would waste my time and/or DVR space on until I happened onto Prodigal Son and decided to give it a try.

Using everything that Yee-tai and Wah-bo taught him, he manages to beat Ngai. Soon, Tsan's putting his sharpened skills to use, one enemy at a time. Although Yuen Biao is the star, and has some great performances here, to me the true star of this movie is Lam Ching Ying.
