So the best that can be done is put over a representation of the original novel that also manages to stand on its own. Whereas "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" exposes the rancid underbelly of supposedly respectable society, this is much more a conventional thriller, with conventional thrills and conventional baddies. The only character who jangle somewhat is Neidermann who is almost cartoonist but he probably would be on the "flesh". Digging deeper, Blomkvist unearths evidence implicating highly placed members of Swedish society – as well as shocking details about Salander’s past. The casting of the trilogy is of course magnificient.

I was watching the Blu-ray version and it was immediately apparent that the video quality was not as good as its predecessor, although the quality is not as bad as some would suggest. Fortunately, I had read the books so this helped orient me. I accept that there is some gratuitous violence, but this is to be found in many other films and TV dramas.

I understand that any film chooses which scenes to keep and which threads to delete from a novel but this version of Larsson's second book comes up short too often. Tough is her life but she digs her way through any terrain. Following clues to the origin of mankind, a team finds a structure on a distant moon, but they soon realize they are not alone.
In this second installment of Stieg Larsson’s phenomenal “Millennium” trilogy, Lisbeth Salander is a wanted woman. Good movie but not quite as good as the first one.

With a touch of Second World War II as a background, the focus on the family and its place on an island and its wealth gave the film some depth.

The first half of the film is choppy, scenes thrown together with an almost haphazard manner. Rapace is not right IMO and the storyline underdid the computer talents of Lisbeth and Plague.

Lisbeth is recovering in a hospital and awaiting trial for three murders when she is released.

The 1st film was as well-scripted and edited a film as I've ever seen.

This follow-up installment by director Daniel Alfredson is a decent mystery thriller with expected action scenes and a string of plot points to keep your interest going.

If you saw the earlier film, or have read the novels, you'll recognize some of the key players here. These are not personality traits. As I love the Scandinavian series on TV such as Wallander and the Killing I bought the series of 3 DVD's. I enjoyed this film a little more than Hornets Nest but have the same reservations.
