Generally speaking winter driving isn't particularly risky unless you get here right when there's a large snowstorm (it happens once or twice every winter in various parts of the country) - in the few days during/right after the storm some roads in the affected area will be blocked and even driving on unblocked roads will be very slow. We weren’t aware of the big snowstorm coming into town, but because of it, one of the main ski lifts was shut down and everyone skiing flocked to the few other open ones… which only ran to one blue and two red slopes.
